The Battery Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2025 amended the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 to strengthen battery traceability, improve Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance, and simplify labeling requirements. The amendment allows producers to use Barcodes or QR Codes linked to their EPR Registration Number, provides exemptions for certain packaging covered under Legal Metrology requirements, and relaxes chemical labeling requirements for batteries containing very low concentrations of cadmium and lead.
