The Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2020 amended the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 to strengthen provisions related to the recognition, registration, skill development, safety, and health of workers engaged in hazardous waste management activities. The amendment expanded the responsibilities of State Governments and Union Territory administrations to ensure proper registration of workers, promote industrial skill development, and conduct annual monitoring for the safety and occupational health of workers involved in the generation, handling, collection, transport, storage, recycling, recovery, treatment, utilization, and disposal of hazardous waste.
