National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) – Malaysia's Pathway to a Low-Carbon Economy
PDF · 70 pages · English · Environmental Management

The National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) is Malaysia’s strategic framework for accelerating the transition from a fossil fuel-dependent energy system to a sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient economy. Aligned with the principles of Ekonomi MADANI, NETR outlines the Responsible Transition (RT) Pathway 2050, focusing on energy security, economic growth, carbon reduction, and sustainable development. The roadmap promotes renewable energy expansion, energy efficiency, green investments, and clean technology deployment while ensuring economic competitiveness and social inclusivity. Through 50 initiatives, multiple energy-transition levers, and flagship projects, NETR aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, phase out coal, increase renewable energy adoption, create new economic opportunities, generate high-value jobs, and support Malaysia’s net-zero greenhouse gas aspirations.
